QUO VADIS ?

Synopsis : L’action démarre dans la banlieue parisienne, à Nanterre,
ville historique de l’immigration maghrébine en France. C’est un regard
de l’intérieur d’un cinéaste qui réside en banlieue depuis 40 ans :mes
2 garçons, Nessim (19 ans) et Bilal (17 ans), sont nés en France. Je
suis naturalisé français de père égyptien et de mère danoise. Leur
mère, Naïma, française aussi, est de parents marocains. Nous sommes
tous les deux installés en France avec nos familles depuis la fin des
années 1960. Nessim et Bilal sont de la troisième génération, formés à
l’école de la République. J’ai voulu les accompagner depuis leur
naissance, avec ma caméra, dans la banlieue française où nous vivons,
puis je les ai emmené dans un voyage aux sources à leur jeune âge
adulte : au Danemark, au Maroc et en Egypte. Au moment où ils se posent
des questions sur eux-mêmes, et sur leur avenir j’ai voulu qu’ils
découvrent leurs racines, car pour savoir où l’on va, il faut savoir
d’où l’on vient...Quo vadis ?

Synopsis : The film begins in Nanterre, suburb of Paris, an historic
city of immigration. An eye from inside by a cineaste who lives here
since 40 years. My two children, Nessim (19 years) and Bilal (17 years)
are born in France. I am egyptian by my father and danish by my mother.
Their mother is marocan. We are also french since 10 years. We live in
France since the sixtees. Nessim and Bilal are third generation, grown
up in the french scools. I wanted to film them from their childhood in
the innercitie where we live, untill a journey to the "origins"  :
Danmark , Marocco, and Egypt... so that they know where do they come
from... It will be usefull so that they find there own way, Quo
vadis ?
